Fleming Turns 50!

FLEMING, incorporated January 1, 1959 reached a significant milestone this year when it reached its 50th anniversary serving the market with doors and frames.

The founder, Sam FLEMING, started in a 1,250 square foot building in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto, Canada and set about establishing his reputation as a premier custom sheet metal fabricator.  Originally the company manufactured a variety of sheet metal and stainless steel products, including toilet partitions, lockers, pre-fabricated fireplaces, drafting tables, commercial coolers and freezers, louvers, vents, polio vaccine vessels, radar equipment, storage tanks, hoppers and nuclear fuel containers, along with steel doors and frames.

By the mid 1960s, FLEMING had reduced the product lines to include only steel doors, frames and toilet partitions. In 1978 the toilet partition division was sold in order to concentrate exclusively on the core business, steel doors and frames.

Having its roots in the non-residential market as a small, custom manufacturer, providing product only in greater Toronto, FLEMING grew to provide its products throughout North America as a result of its quality, product depth and service.

“FLEMING continues to employ highly skilled workers, many of whom have been with the company for 35 or more years,” said Shane Magee, General Manger for FLEMING  “We look forward to continuing our high level of service, quality and quick deliveries that FLEMING has been built on for the past 50 years and we look forward for the next 50 years!”
